Schubert Calculus

Enumerative linear algebra

Schubert calculus answers questions like how many $k$-plans intersect a given set of other linear subspaces in $\mathbb{C}^n$. It gives a deep link between a cell structure of the Grassmannian (space of all $k$-planes) and combinatorial objects like Schur polynomials and Knutson-Tao puzzles.

Not the most comprehensive, but very nicely animated research talk:

  • Grassmannian
  • Schur polynomials
  • Quiver variety
